Thank you for your prayers in helping us with this meeting. I believe they were answered. Now we are praying that we are truly ready, and that we get approved to dive into the rest of the process with the real hope that we will eventually be matched with a child.
We are excited to announce that through over three years of struggling to become parents God has lead us to take a new leap of faith. We invite you to be part of our journey as we pursue domestic infant adoption, and we ask for prayers for our family as we anticipate celebrating with you when the day comes!

The Wait: ACT ONE
Today we had our pre-interview! Our social worker seems very nice and
genuinely interested in who we are (though in all fairness that is her
objective :) ). She is a spitting image, just shy of hair color, of my
hairdresser, to the point where I had to ask if she had a sister with the same
name (she does not). We all sat and chatted for about 90 minutes, covering the
expected general question of "what's your journey and what brings you
here?" As we explained our least favorite year of all time (2009), with the
exception of the birth of our handsome nephew, she seemed to emphasize
"you've been through a lot" and then follow up with trying to
understand where we are now as a result of it all, and how it will affect where
we go. We felt very comfortable, and it many ways it was fun to talk about how
we arrived in this place and to see more clearly now, a couple years removed
from the worst, what good things God has brought from some unfortunate
situations, as He promises. Though we obviously couldn't discuss it in the
middle of the meeting, I think it’s fair to say that both my husband and I
thought it was going very well. We weren't hiding anything, we didn't struggle
for responses, and we felt as prepared as you could be in a brand new situation. At
the end of the meeting we were hoping for our big "welcome to the adoption
process" go-ahead, but instead we were promised a call back. This is
likely normal process because our counselor seemed to need to review "her
findings" with the director of social work. In spite of our disappointment
with the uncertainty, it was overall a very promising visit and refreshing to
feel like it’s all finally begun. Until the call....we wait.
Thank you for your prayers in helping us with this meeting. I believe they were answered. Now we are praying that we are truly ready, and that we get approved to dive into the rest of the process with the real hope that we will eventually be matched with a child.

Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to find your blog this morning. I have been impatiently awaiting this. I was not sure you would have the energy to post the "interview" results so quickly, but as usual, you are on top of it.
It is difficult to anticipate the next process, then have to wait again for the next step, but if you two can try to remember, anticipation, wait and then anticipation again is truly the steps for the most meaningful important events in our lives.
We are all here for you both, even if not physically.
Love
jackie
Haha! "I'll call you..." What a hated phrase, no matter one's phase of life :-).
